  • Nerve entrapment syndromes such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction and pain
  • Lumbar and cervical facet dysfunction and pain
  • Joint inflammatory disorders

How does Platelet Rich Plasma therapy work?

The PRP is prepared by collecting blood and using a blood separation device to separate platelets from the red and white blood cells. Platelets contain growth factors that make it effective in delivering long-lasting healing where it is applied.

When there is an injury, the body naturally responds by delivering platelets to the injured area to repair and attract stem cells. PRP therapy is designed to imitate this body science and to further quicken the pace of the healing by injecting additional platelets into the area. This stimulates the body’s own natural regenerative response to regrow and repair damaged tissue.

What is the treatment like?

First, a blood sample is collected from your vein and then added to the centrifuge device to separate your platelets from your red and white blood cells. Then, using Ultrasound guidance, the PRP is injected into and/or around the targeted area. The full treatment may require three to four injections across four weeks.

It only takes about an hour to complete a single session. There may be some pain associated with this treatment, but it will wear off in a few days. We also offer pain-relieving medication to aid in the recovery process. Patients will be monitored closely until they are ready to resume their normal activities.

Are there any side effects?

PRP is a safe treatment and there is no risk of allergic reaction because it uses your own blood. Apart from the discomfort from the injury and the injected area, there are no adverse side effects.

We do offer aftercare and pain-relieving medication for PRP therapy patients but in most cases, the pain will wear off after few days.
