What is Botox® Cosmetic?
Botox® is a prescription injectable medication that has been used to treat a variety of conditions for more than 17 years. In recent decades, cosmetic physicians have discovered its effectiveness in treating wrinkles and facial creases for a variety of patients. Botox® Cosmetic is FDA Approved to treat frown lines, crow’s feet and axillary hyperhidrosis, or excessive underarm sweating.
How does Botox® Cosmetic work?
Botox® Cosmetic works by blocking the signal from the nerves to the muscles. This way, the muscles can’t contract anymore which allows those wrinkles to relax and soften, giving the skin a smooth, youthful appearance.
During your visit, a small amount of Botox® will be injected directly into the targeted area. For the most part, you’ll only feel minor discomfort and we’ll only need a few minutes to administer the treatment. You should see results in three to seven days, but do note that in some cases it may take up to two weeks.
